Florian Prünster, a portraitist and figurative artist, resides in Merano, Italy. He primarily works with charcoal and pencil, dedicating himself entirely to his passion for art after retiring in 2017. Prünster portrays individuals in their unique characteristics and facets, relying exclusively on references from his own photographs. Even during the photography process, his visions and ideas for the drawing come into play. "I have a clear idea of how the artwork should look before I take the photo. They are an integral part of my creative process," says Prünster. He adds that the artwork, however, is meant to be more than a copy of the photo; it aims to create new layers that allow the viewer to perceive it from different perspectives. His works have been featured in numerous art exhibitions across Europe, and he also conducts workshops in portrait drawing, sharing his techniques with art students.
